Alpe-d’Huez ski resort, France

This large, extensive terrained resort is located east of Grenoble. Considered a major French Ski resort, Alpe-d’Huez provides good skiing for all levels, with fours sectors to choose from. The biggest sector is Pic Blanc which lies above the village. There are two Terrain Parks, one for the beginners and not so confident, and one with a half pipe and lots of jumps.

The experts will be heavily challenged and there are many off piste areas, and a fantastic 16km black run at Pic Blanc. Adventerous intermediates will be happy, but there are plenty for the not so confident as well. The beginner’s area is good but often crowded.

Overall Alpe-d’Huez ahs over 269km of runs with 86 lifts and plenty of snow making.

Typical of French resorts the mountain restaurants are good and cater for all tastes. Chalets and hotels of all rating are plentiful as well. The off field entertainment is good with plenty of bars and clubs, with many British pubs for the tourists.
