50 kilometres northwest of Bern lies Les Pres D’ Orvin a resort which is actually more famous for its cross-country tracks than its downhill skiing. That’s not to say that the skiing isn’t any good – the resort has 730 meters of vertical, through six slopes and five lifts (2 tows and 3 beginners lifts), a toboggan run and fun park. Accommodation is limited to a couple of self-catering chalets.
Les Pres D’ Orvin also has two unique attractions. One called “The Forest Jump”, which is a mixture of a nature trail, forest walks and adventure playground. It takes about an hour and a half to complete and includes shaky bridges and high-wire bicycle riding! The other is a truly curious Bison Farm with a 50-seater restaurant, serving guess what? YES BISON!
