Trollhaugen Ski Resort, Dresser, Wisconsin, USA

ski hotels

Despite sounding like it is located in the heart of the Norwegian Fjordlands, Trollhaugen is only 50 kilometres outside of the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It is securely focussed on providing weekend and afternoon skiing for the locals on its 22 slopes, all of which are floodlit. The Norwegian theme actually carries on in the resort with some of the slopes being christened with Norwegian names – Storebakken (the big slope), Julbakken (Christmas slope) and Bjorkedahl (birch valley).

There is a great mixture of slopes and even two well-planned terrain parks, with any amount of jumps and rails on. Although it only has a vertical of 260ft there are a whole host of non-skiing activities to try your hand at like snow tubing, cross-country skiing and sledging.

Trollhaugen Ski Resort is a family friendly ski area. There are 80 skiable acres. The average annual snowfall is 50 inches and they can make snow for all of the terrain. The 10 lifts can move 10,000 people per hour.

Beginners can enjoy 29 percent of the runs while intermediates can use 43 percent. Advanced enthusiasts will be challenged on 28 percent of the trails. The terrain park will thrill freestyle skiers and riders. There are 2km of cross country ski trails and a snow tubing park as well.

Lodging is available nearby. Dining options can be found onsite and around the mountain. Après ski fun can be had at the lounge at Trollhaugen Ski Resort or in town.
