At 2962 meters Zugspitze is Germany’s highest mountain and home to 10 lifts that service 22 kilometres of skiing high up on this glacial slope. Snow is guaranteed on Germany’s only glacier, which provides for year-round skiing and sledging.
The top is reached by a cog-wheel train from Garmisch-Partenkirchen or a gondola from Eibsee and the summit also forms part of the Germany – Austrian border. There is also a restaurant at the peak offering spectacular views. Just below the Zugspitze Mountain is the hilarious Wank Mountain, which is great for snow shoeing and offers a Wank lift pass.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the nearest place to stay, with a whole host of accommodation opportunities. There are ample choices for other skiing locations as Innsbruck lies only 35 kilometres away as the crow flies.
