Situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this is a small resort that is big on fun. There are eleven trails. Two runs are for beginners, three are rated as intermediate and six are advanced, black diamond trails. There are two ungroomed areas that are strictly for advanced skiers and boarders. These two areas are not patrolled so it is wise to honestly rate your level of skill before trying them. Two lifts and one handle tow service the Alta Sierra Ski Resort. Use of the terrain park is included in the lift price.
The Tube Park at Alta Sierra is very popular for those not quite brave enough to hit the slopes. There is an automatic lift system that carries the rider and the tube back to the top of the groomed run. This eliminates the hiking involved with traditional tubing and gets you to the top quicker.
Rentals are available on a first come, first served basis. There is a small ski school at Alta Sierra Ski Resort. The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. The warming hut offers drinks and light fare such as soup, burgers and hot dogs. Drinks, both warm and cold are available and at a moderate priced.
There is no lodging onsite however there are many options nearby. Après ski entertainment is varied and can be found in town.
