This smallish ski resort located in central Switzerland is popular with serious skiers. The village is situated 67 km southeast of Lucerne and 140km from Zurich. Andermatt is near four alpine passes; Grimsel, Susten, St Gotthard and Oberalp. There is plenty of good snow between November and May, and the slopes suit the intermediate to expert skier. Beginner skiers may have trouble here on the steep slopes, but snow boarders will find good free ride terrain. There are also plenty of cross country trails.
