Located in the Maurienne Valley region of Savoyard, it is very close to the Italian border. A good resort for snowboarders, and beginner and intermediate skiers; it has nine green runs, four blue, eight red, and two black. Access is via eleven ski lifts, and there are fifty km of downhill pistes and thirty-five km of cross country trails.
The area has snowmakers to keep the slopes usable, and five airports are within two hours of the community – the two primary are Geneva and Chambery, and the TGV train station is only ten minutes from the town. Eight hotels service the area, and there are other activities to partake of. You can go on a wildlife snowshoe safari, ice climbing, and paragliding. An ancient castle is also a gourmet restaurant.
