The New South Wales resorts are predominately based at Perisher and Thredbo about a six hour drive from Sydney. If you are in Victoria, Mount Buffalo is only a two hour drive from Melbourne.
The Australian ski season usually runs from early June to mid October, however, the season can be very erratic and it would be much safer to go later rather than earlier, to get good snow, but it will still be hit and miss. The resorts are always upgrading their snow, making, so it does improve each season.
Skiing in Australia is mostly catered to the beginner or intermediate, families and group based tourists. The runs are shorter and the fields not as vast, but as with everything Australian, there are always a fun, friendly, party atmosphere through all ski areas. |
