Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort, Bessemer, Michigan, USA

Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort is continually voted the best downhill ski resort in the Midwestern United States. There are 253 acres of skiable terrain.

Snowmaking equipment allows the resort to manufacture snow for 93 percent of the skiable areas. There are 33 trails. Beginner runs make up 35 percent of the total. Another 35 percent are rated for intermediate class skiers and boarders. Lastly, 30 percent of the terrain is designated solely for the use of advanced level enthusiasts. There are nine double chair lifts and a beginner’s tow which can move approximately 10,800 people up and down the mountain per hour. The Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort is open for night skiing every Saturday evening. This draws a lot of skiers and snowboarders to the area.

The ski and snowboard school is highly acclaimed. Only the more experienced instructors are hired to teach there. They stress the importance of safety as well as proper technique.

Ski in and ski out lodging is available at the Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort. They offer guest suites in the main lodge as well as private French style chateaux with several rooms. The room rates are actually comparable to any medium quality chain motel. This makes staying onsite really affordable. There are loads of dining options of the slopes. There is even a ski in and ski out tavern which hosts a full service bar and has light fare available. This is the happening place for après ski fun.
