Big Tupper Ski Area, Tupper Lake, New York, USA

ski hotels

After being closed for ten years, Big Tupper Ski area has reopened as a not for profit, volunteer staffed resort. The whole goal of re-opening Big Tupper was to provide a no frills, affordable ski experience for people. They want skiers and riders to experience an old fashioned, Adirondack ski trip. There are 700 feet of vertical drop and 53 skiable acres. Big Tupper Ski Area hosts 25 named trails. There are nine areas that are set aside for beginner skiers. Thirteen runs are labeled for intermediate level skiers and snowboarders. There are three trails that are designated for use by advanced enthusiasts only.

The lift ticket prices are incredibly affordable. A day pass is merely fifteen dollars. The coolest thing is that seniors over 70, kids under 6 and all active members of the United States Military ski free, always. Rental equipment and an inexpensive ski school are available.

There are a variety of options for lodging in Tupper Lake. There are many motels of varying quality and amenities. The choices for dining are plentiful as well. Après ski activities are available at the local pool halls, bowling alley, pubs and chain style bar and grills. There are a few sports bars that are quite popular as well.
