Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is situated inside of the Flathead National Forest. It has a vertical drop of 1,440 feet. There are 25 groomed trails at the resort of which fifteen percent are rated easy for beginner skiers. Seventy percent of the runs are slated for the use of intermediate level skiers and riders. The remaining fifteen percent of the trails are dedicated to enthusiasts that have advanced skills on the slopes. There are four lifts servicing the trails including two double chair lifts, one triple chair lift and one handle tow.
The Independence Terrain Park at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is quite popular with locals and guests alike. There are numerous elements including two roller jumps, an eight foot box, a 20 foot box, a shotgun rail and a 20 foot straight rail. New elements are added regularly.
There are four cross country skiing trails available at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area. They total at about 26 miles of trail. Most are designated easy but there are some more difficult trails.

There are great options for dining on the mountain. Besides the usual cafeteria and picnic areas, there are full service restaurants with impressive menus. Muley’s Pub and Restaurant is the après ski place to be for mingling and fun. Lodging is available nearby and largely consists of chain motels.
