Bormio is a beautiful 17th century town located close to the Swiss border. As well as being a ski resort it has been a spa resort since Roman times. The ski slopes here are quite steep and not very popular with snow boarders. There are some good woodland runs outside of Bormio, which are scenic. The runs are mainly red with 14 lifts operating. Bormio’s mountain restaurants are good and there are more than 40 hotels in and around the township When not skiing the thermal and Roman baths are very relaxing, and walks through the Stelvio National Park provide beautiful scenery. There is also a large sports centre, a great swimming pool and ice rink.
