The Butternut Area is at Great Barrington, MA. They have 8 green or beginner runs, 8 blue or intermediate runs, and 6 black or advanced runs, providing enough variety for anybody to enjoy.
They have 12 lifts for the whole area and a couple of freestyle areas for those enthusiasts. They offer rentals skis for anybody who needs them. They also offer a variety of lessons for beginners to include private lessons at a reasonable price.
They offer a couple of tubing trails also for the enthusiasts who enjoy tubing. Another feature they offer is a daycare for those that need it during their time on the slopes. The area also has a variety of options to allow you to spend the weekend on the mountain.
We went to Butternut because my sons wanted to use the terrain parks. They had a wonderful time. It was beneficial because you must purchase a special ticket to utilize the terrain parks. This kept many of the first-timers at bay. The skiing was basically for beginners and intermediates. There wasn't much for the expert skier. I would highly recommend the terrain parks for die hard boarders. Roseann Lahey
