Chepelare ski resort, Bulgaria

Voted as the sunniest town in Bulgaria, Chepelare has an amazing 270 sunny days a year. This is the land of Ekaterina Dafovska, the Olympic Biathlon Champion at Nagano 1998 Games. Visitors come to this ski resort via the Plovdiv International Airport or the Sofia International Airport in the capital of this country. 

The summit of this Mountain is 1870 metres and the vertical here is 720 metres. The highest lift is at 1970 metres above sea level. The lowest run is at 1150 metres above sea level. Accommodations are available in and around the Chepelare Ski area itself in the form of motels, hotels and apartments.

There are 12 trails on this resort rated Beginners – 17%, Intermediate – 33% and Advanced – 50%. There are two trails in Chepelare Ski area rated Beginners – 50% and Advanced – 50%. This ski area is also known for its beautiful Cross Country skiing facilities. About 30 km of trails are devoted to Cross Country skiing.

There are many skiing runs here for varying levels of skiers. One of the main runs is over 3250 metres in distance. This run is equipped with 47 snow cannons for snowmaking. One of the lifts is a Quad chair capable of lifting 2000 people per hour uphill. It travels the 2700 metres expanse from the town of Chepelare to the Mechi Chal Peak in 9 minutes.

Chepelare Ski area is the first resort in the area to offer free wireless internet service.
