The Discovery Ski Area is a family friendly ski area located in Anaconda, Montana. There is a vertical drop of nearly 2,400 feet on at total of 2,200 acres patrolled by the National Ski Patrol. There is an average of 215 inches of snowfall per year and the resort only has snow making equipment to cover four trails. Eight lifts service the mountain.
There are 67 true trails at Discovery Ski Area. Only twenty percent are designed for beginners and twenty-five percent are rated for intermediate level snow enthusiasts. Another twenty-five percent are only for advanced skiers and riders. The remaining thirty percent of the terrain is strictly for use by expert skiers and snowboarders. The longest trail is Winning Ridge and is 1.5 miles long. Backcountry skiing is popular at this resort.
The terrain park is two and one half acres and has jumps and rails galore. It is only open weekends and holidays. There are five kilometers of trails for cross country skiers available at Discovery Ski Area.
A wide variety of lodging is available in the area. There are bed and breakfasts, inns, motels, hotels and resorts. Naturally, the prices vary according to the quality and amenities.
Restaurants are plentiful as well. There are fast food joints, delis, cafes, diners and full service facilities. The style of cuisine varies as do the prices on the menus.
The après ski fun is never ending near Discovery Ski Area. The pubs and clubs are nearby and they stay open late. They often have live music or other entertainment.
