Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and has high altitude skiing at 2500 metres. The terrain offers heli sking and year round snow and skiing on the upper slopes.
There are 9km of cross country trails around Elbrus. Three lifts serve the main skiing area and the highest, Mir, is reached by cable car and is a 2km run down to the base.
Most runs are located in and around the Baksan Valley. Snowboarding is popular in Elbrus. This area is most suited to advanced and technical skiers, and for those descending the broad slopes of Elbrus, some previous off piste experience.
