Ellmau ski resort, Austria

ski hotels

The Austrian village of Ellmau is historically known as a farming settlement but now stands as a high quality skiing resort boasting amazing views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains. The village has a number of great hotels ranging from three star to five star ratings, which range in price and luxury. This offers you the opportunity to tailor-make your skiing holiday to suit your individual needs, with many family-friendly locations.

Ellmau is well known as the ideal family ski resort, with north facing slopes that can avoid the suns rays for the majority of the day. The slopes range from beginner to expert, with a number of lifts and the mountain railway. From the top of the lifts you can access a number of long red and blue trails that wind to the base of the railway. These runs remain quiet in the mornings, with crowds emerging as the day progresses. There are a number of easy/intermediate runs to access from the top of Hartkaiser and a longer red run can be found from the Schmiedalm chairlift.

Use Innsbruck or Salzburg airport and then a train to Worgl and then a bus to Ellmau.
