Estonia skiing

The Republic of Estonia is part of the Baltic region, which, as a whole, is becoming increasingly popular as a skiing destination. Altitudes in Estonia are not too high, resulting is relatively short slopes, but the terrain is varied enough to offer something to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The country is more famous, and suitable, for cross-country skiing than downhill skiing. The 40th Tartu Ski Marathon is scheduled to take place in Estonia in 2011.

The country is small, so even though the resorts offer all the basics, you may prefer finding accommodation in the country’s capital, Tallinn, to combine your skiing with some culture and sightseeing. The city’s Christmas Market is attracting more and more visitors from abroad every year. Prices in Estonia are still very low, the lift lines short, and the instructors friendly. Activities such as sledding or skating are available for those who prefer a day off the slopes.
