Nestled between the jagged Purcell Mountains in Columbia River Valley is the three thousand acre Fairmont Hot Springs ski resort. Columbia valley is a haven for environmental diversity with tremendous opportunities for golf, fishing, hiking, boating and of course, Skiing.
People also come here to experience the healing powers of the hot springs which the early Native Americans used to call “Land of the smoking waters”. Visitors can arrive here in an hour’s drive by car or bus from Cranbrook International Airport in British Columbia.
With spectacular Rocky mountain views and a 300 meter vertical, skiers here can enjoy the sport using the 300 ft magic carpet lift, Sundance Triple chair lift or the Snowbird Platter lift to go up the slopes. There are thirteen professionally groomed runs which are directed to the chalet to make it easier for families. Also, there is a terrain park devoted to novice riders and skiers. The runs are divided almost equally among the various skilled skiers.
In addition to skiing, this part of the Rockies also enable visitors to enjoy kayaking, snowshoeing, dogsledding, cross-country skiing and interpretive hikes through the abundant and untouched wilderness, gazing at or capturing on film the stunning mountain topography.
