The village of Firiza sits as part of the city of Baia Mare, in the Maramures county of Transylvania,
Romania. The village hosts a ski resort that is becoming popular amongst enthusiasts, largely due to the close proximity to various other ski resorts in the area, as well as the gorgeous landscape.
Firiza is home to a large lake and has been considered one of the most beautiful mountain resorts in Romania. Besides the usual snow activities you can enjoy swimming, surfing, boating, fishing and hunting activities. The area enjoys a reliable snowfall each year, with the ski season lasting between December to March. The are a number of runs, but the skiing is aimed more at intermediate to advanced levels, which is considered to be due to Firiza’s new position as a ski destination. There are a number of accommodation choices in the area, suited to a range of finances and personal tastes.
