One of two small ski resorts on Tierra del Fuego, Glacier El Martial is located just outside Ushuaia the capital.
The Glacier is the source of the water supply for Ushuaia. With two lifts servicing two principal runs, one piste being 30 metres wide, the resort is popular with beginner and intermediate skiers. Cross country skiing is another activity in Glacier El Martial. Equipment hire and ski lessons are available in the resort and snowboarding and sledging facilities are popular. In summer the chairlifts are a tourist attraction as they offer panoramic views over Ushuaia.
