Hemavan

ski hotels

Hemavan is a ski resort in Sweden famous as the learning ground for world-class legend skiers Ingemar Stenmark and Anja Paerson. The Hemavan resort is often tied in with Tarnaby resort, which is located within extremely close distance. Due to the high latitude of the area, Hemavan enjoys a long ski season window from late October to May.

Hemavan is the starting point of one of the best cross-country skiing trails in Europe, The Kungsleden, which is a 420km trail through the mountains of Sweden. Between Hemavan and Tarnaby there are 45 pistes with 40% of these devoted to beginners and the remaining devoted to intermediate and advanced levels.

The twelve lifts that access the slopes allow for a vertical drop of 665m down the mountain. The area also enjoys slope side accommodation suitable for a range of budgets and tastes, as well as relaxation at the restaurants and bar.
