This large Salzburgerland ski area is dotted with many small, traditional style Austrian villages. The largest are Maria Alm, with its amazing old church and spire, and Hinterthal.
There are not a lot of Black runs, but the ones available are worth the challenge. Intermediates and beginners have plenty of choices here with over 150km of runs serviced by 36 lifts. Not all the lifts are linked between villages, so a car can be worthwhile, or the buses do run between the townships
Five Terrain Parks cater to the whole ski area, with the largest being at Aberg.
There are 37 mountain restaurants scattered throughout the slopes, and accommodation can be found in three and four star hotels.
