Skiing may not be the first tourist attraction that comes to mind when thinking about Israel, but this small country has a wide climatic variety, and enough snow to offer something to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Mount Hermon, located in the Golan Heights in the far north of the country, is covered in snow almost all year round. The main ski season, however, runs from December to April. |

Daily, about 2,000 skiers and snowboarders come down the Mount Hermon slopes, and another 6,000 people come to the resort to enjoy other activities such as riding the cable cars, sleighing, taking pictures, or just relaxing in the sun and snow. Small snacks and drinks are offered at the resort, but for hotels, restaurants, après ski, and even some sightseeing, the nearby village of Neve Ative is the place to go. Israel is a wonderful mix of the modern and the ancient, and its small size makes it possible to combine your skiing holiday with day trips to one of the many tourist attractions.
