Kaunertal ski resort, Austria

Located in the Tyrolean province of Austria, the Kaunertal ski resort is one of the largest artificial snow resorts in the Alps. The resort boasts challenging runs and breath taking scenery of snow capped mountains, blue sky and lots and lots of powder.  

Accommodations
Lodging around the resort includes something for every budget.  Enjoy more primitive hut like accommodations or grab a room at family run farm house.  The nearby village offers hotel lodging and apartment rooms.

Tracks/Slopes
Kaunertal offers slopes for every level of ability including 20 km of easy runs, 10 km of medium difficulty and 6 km of difficult slopes.  Drag lifts, chair lifts, and one cable car provide easy access to the slope of your choice.

Other Activities

A snow village is one of the drawing cards for this resort and includes a snow church as well as overnight accommodations in a snow built igloo.  Alternative activities to skiing at the resort include three toboggan runs that extend 12 km and are equipped with flood lighting for those nighttime rides. 

Winter hiking trails are available and for those who want some time to relax, hop aboard one of many sleigh rides for a journey through a winter wonderland.
