La Grave ski resort, France

Skiing experts are very familiar with the name La Grave as it is one of France's most popular off piste ski resorts.

A small old style French village with only one lift but plenty of high slopes and snow. La Grave is located a two hour drive from Lyon and is a mountain side village with impressive glacial views. As the name may indicate, skiing here is not for the faint hearted.

Most skiing here requires a guide and avalanche equipment, although it’s not mandatory it is recommended.

Experienced black run skiers and adventurers intermediate are the only skiers who will appreciate La Grave. Beginners and snow boarder will find very little to entertain themselves with.

Three mountain restaurants are enough to satisfy the skiers here and there are only about 500 tourist beds in the area.

	Les Chalets de La Meije Chalets de la Meije is located in the ski resort of La Grave, 10 km from Col du Lautaret. It has 2 outdoor swimming pools and a balneotherapy spa centre with a sauna.
