La Rosiere ski resort, Haute Tarentaise, France

Situated in the Haute Tarentaise region of France, it is close to the Vanoise National Park, and linked to the Italian ski slopes by six chair lifts.

The place is ideal for intermediate skiers as just over fifty percent of the slopes are blue; a third are green runs, and the remainder are black (single diamond). Thirty-nine lifts service the slopes, and the longest run is just under seven miles.

The resort is very family-friendly; children are welcome and the hotels offer a plethora of activities for them. Five airports are within 3 hours drive to the area, Chambery, Grenoble, Geneva and Lyon among the closest. You can also take the train to nearby Bourg St Maurice, and then rent a car or take a bus or taxi. Several restaurants give wonderful French and Italian food.
