Le Grand Bornand ski resort, France

This is a large French village, very traditional, and it is wonderful for beginners and intermediate skiers; the area has 10 green runs, 15 blue, 14 red, and 3 black ones. The 39 lifts in the resort give access to 90 km of downhill runs and 56 km of cross country slopes.

A good portion of the slopes are above the 2,000 m elevation, and so snow coverage is basically very consistent; even so, there are 100 snow cannons to provide extra snow for the slopes.

Six airports cover the area, and the Geneva Airport is only an hour from the region. The hotels and resorts are perfect for families – they have day care for smaller children and ski lessons for the older ones. Restaurants and shops are plentiful, and many of the hotels have amenities like spas and saunas.
