Los Penitentes is a popular ski resort on the Argentine border with Chile and at the foot of Mount Aconcagua.
The resort has 25 runs of mixed ability from beginner to advanced with a focus on intermediate to advanced level, and eight lifts including a children’s lift. Heli skiing is popular in Los Penitentes whose name derives from the strange ice shapes resembling a penitent’s steps.
Los Penitentes has several hotels, snowboarding facilities with a snow park and an excellent ski school. The nearest airport is Mendoza with a 2 hour transfer time.
