Mammoth Mountain,Mammoth Lakes, California

Mammoth Mountain is one of North Americas biggest. It is set about the township of Mammoth Lakes and is a six hour drive from Los Angeles and a 3 hour drive to Reno.|

Good annual snowfalls are reported here and there is plenty to do for all levels of skiers.

A highlight of Mammoth Mountain is the ward winning Terrain Parks located here. There are three in all; snow boarders will be very well entertained here. There are 29 lifts on the mountain covering 3,500 acres.

Beginners are also well catered for, which is why Mammoth Mountain is very popular with families. Another appealing aspect of this resort it that is quieter than many others, so cruising on the runs is very pleasant.
Dining on the mountain is not good and most eateries are at the base. However, there are plenty of good restaurants in the town; you will need transport to get to them though. Outside of skiing is plenty of good sightseeing and museum and art gallery visiting.

The name says it all. This place is mammoth and absolutely incredible! As an expert skier, it is hard to find new places that don't bore me and Mammoth Mountain fits the bill. I spent most of my time at the top of the mountain. The bowl runs, cliffs, cornices and chutes are fabulous. Most of the runs on top are double black diamonds and believe me, they mean it. They are not for the faint of heart. I highly recommend Mammoth Mountain especially for the expert skier. You will never get bored at Mammoth. Roseann Lahey
