The mountain town of Mischliffen is an easy ski destination for the local population in Morocco. It is situated in the Atlas Mountain ranges at an elevation of 2100 metres (6,890 ft). This small ski area is considered to be the Moroccan Aspen and King Mohammed VI has a residence ( a guarded palace) on the ski hill.
This ski area is surrounded by a forest filled with pines and cedar trees. Taxis are the main form of travel for international travellers; the way to get to Marrakech is through the Ménara International Airport.
There is a hotel for accommodation near the ski resort and many other hotels about 10 km away. Old Skis are available for daily rental.
Mischliffen ski area consists of two small hills with two rope tows. It also has a Swiss styled hotel that is rarely out of rooms. The lifts open at 11 AM or you may be able to walk up the hill without much hassle before skiing down the slope.
The main activities at this ski hill are skiing, sledding and some snowboarding. This is a good place for families to teach the children about various snow activities.
In addition to a small rope tow that services the smaller hill, there is a bigger rope tow that services the larger hill. The quality of the snow depends on the time of the day as well as the month of the year. The main advantage of skiing in this area is to enjoy some extremely inexpensive and private fun in the snow.
Après ski activities include clubbing at Agadir, visiting Taroudannt or Essaouira and Tetouan by the beach.
