Montenegro (“Black Mountain”), is a tiny, mountainous country in Southeastern Europe, with a coast on the Adriatic Sea. Its ski season runs from December to April and offers deep, quality powder snow. Montenegro is still an up-and-coming country where it comes to skiing, but thanks to multiple possibilities for downhill as well as cross-country skiing and snowboarding, the country is quickly making a name for itself as a great winter holiday destination.  

Montenegro’s ski resorts are not very big, but the spectacular views, cross-country tracks (up to 12 km long), and lack of overcrowding more than make up for that. Don’t be surprised if you only have to share the pistes with a handful of other skiers, allowing you to enjoy a lot of untracked snow all day. Prices are still very low, rental equipment is available and the facilities are generally good. If you are looking for a skiing destination off the beaten track, hospitable Montenegro might just be the perfect choice.
