If you are in central Oregon and want to ski at 9,000 feet in the air, try Mount Bachelor. It has breathtaking views from the top. From there, carving your way down through fresh snow between giant hemlock trees is simply exhilarating.
Mount Bachelor has12 ski trails spread over 3,683 acres and lots of dependable powder. Even without new snow the trails are in great condition and kept well groomed. There are 7 express quad lifts, 2 surface lifts, a double chair and three triple chairs to keep skiers out of lines and up on the slopes skiing.

Mount Bachelor also has four terrain parks for snowboarders which are regularly used by major competitions and Olympic boarders.
It is increasingly becoming a popular ski destination out west due to its long ski season, which can stretch all the way from November to the beginning of July, with spring skiing considered some of the best to be had.
Lift tickets for adults range from $53 to $73, while kids under 5 ski free.
In addition to skiing, on Mount Bachelor you can also find snow tubing, 56 miles of cross country trails, snowshoe tours, and dog sled rides.
In West Village Lodge your choices for food and bars include the Clearing Rock Bar with its cozy fireplace and flat screen TVs, Cocoa's Café for breakfast and lunch, the Caldera for sandwiches and snacks, and The Espresso Bar for you know what. In West Village you will also find the retail shop that was rated highly by Ski Magazine for its quality and range of goods.
In Pine Marten Lodge at the top, you will find Scapolo's for great lasagna and wood fired pizzas, and Sparks Café for a place to watch sports on TV or watch the skiers through the big windows.
At Sunrise Lodge you can enjoy Sunrise Café for breakfast and lunch items with a Mexican flavor, The Sunrise Bar for drinks, and The Espresso Bar.
And at the Nordic Center there is the XC Café serving burritos and light snacks in a room heated by a wood stove.
Accommodations can be had at Mount Bachelor Village Resort just outside of Bend where you can find ski packages that include staying at the resort. For dining, there is Scanlon's Restaurant, which also offers free childcare so that parents can have a quiet meal in peace.
Or you can drive 14 miles and stay at the Inn Of The Seventh Mountain where you can book hotel rooms, condos, townhomes, and luxury townhomes. Dining options within the resort include Big Eddy's Café, a coffee shop, and RimRock Bar, a lounge that serves appetizers.
You can also easily stay in Bend as there is a daily shuttle bus to the slopes. By staying in Bend you can extend the amount of activities available to your family. Visit the High Desert Museum to learn about the history and wildlife of the High Desert.
