Even though, Iran is not the most famous skiing destinations in the world, it still has many beautiful ski resorts which have the potential to take you by surprise. These destinations are not only highly rich in natural beauty, but they also have all the facilities which you would expect in a ski resort.
Mount Tochal ski resort in Iran is no exception. Lying only few kilometres away from Tehran, Tochal ski resort is in northern Iran. This resort is situated on a very high altitude. Its highest point is around 13,000-feet above sea level. This resort is one of the highest ski resorts in the world. It lies in a ridge of mountains that is seven miles long. You can reach this resort by taking a four-mile long ride on a cable car from northern part of Tehran. The cable car will take you to the height of 12,270 feet where a beautiful resort will welcome you. This cable car is the highest cable car in the world with a vertical climb of 6,036 feet. The cable car stops on seven stations in the way with Tochal ski resort being the seventh one. As soon as you disembark from it, you can board one of the four available ski lifts to go on top of the slopes.
Tochal ski resort has quite a long ski season that starts from late November and ends in early April. It has a wonderful climate which allows a long ski season and fantastic snowfall. If you are coming from outside Tehran, then you can easily fly to the Tehran International Airport, travel to the cable car through taxi.
The longest slope at this resort starts from this resort and ends at the fifth cable car station. Two more slopes are in the north of the resort. All of these slopes are served by cable cars and ski lifts. Even though this resort doesn't have a cross country or snowboarding park, you can enjoy some snowboarding on top of the slopes.
Even though, Tochal ski resort is a relatively less developed ski resort in Iran and it doesn't offer many slopes but the best thing about this resort is that it is only a cable car ride away from Tehran. This makes it a great option for a daytrip of tourists in Tehran. There is only one hotel in this resort, so if you want to stay here, make sure you make the reservation in advance. You can also stay in a hotel in Tehran.
