The Grand Geneva Resort on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin offers a lovely vacation getaway with skiing right on the property. It sits on Lake Geneva and can boast of having over 1,300 acres for recreation fun.
Visitors to either Chicago or Milwaukee can add on a trip here for true relaxation and pampering. The resort in the summer has a full golf course, in the winter it has its own Mountain Top ski hill.
Mountain Top has a vertical drop of 211 feet with 5 lifts taking skiers to 18 trails spread over 30 skiable acres. It is geared more for beginners with short easy tails and an excellent “magic carpet” to pull along the beginners. However there is room for intermediate skiers to take a few fun runs. There is also night skiing until 10 p.m.
Cross country skiers make out very well at the resort, being able to ski over 10 miles of groomed trails.
There is also a terrain park for snowboarders or they can ski downhill.
Further ski services at the hill include ski rentals and ski lessons and constant snow making.
There is a ski lodge with dining at the Ski Lodge Bar & Grill serving pizzas, salads, and appetizers and a snow sport shop. Other outdoor winter activities on hand are ice skating, sledding and snowshoeing.
Kids will love the indoor waterpark slides at Timber Ridge on the resort property as well. Adults can find eateries there including Smokey's Bar-B-Que House and the Hungry Moose Food Court.
Just as much as the skiing, the resort is about enjoying the luxury of the hotel and its facilities. It is top of the line with a full spa, pool, conference facilities, three restaurants, café and Champagne Brunch.
So after a full day outdoors sledding, skiing, cross country skiing, or ice skating, why not book an aromatic spa treatment at the full service WELL Spa? And don't forget to book your table for the evening meal. You can choose from the award-winning restaurant at the hotel, Ristorante Brissago, for contemporary Italian food in an elegant atmosphere. They have fresh artisanal ingredients flown in to the restaurant from Italy and a large selection of Italian wines. If you are in the mood for steaks or seafood, book a table at the Geneva Chophouse in the hotel. It has an elegant stylish setting and great food. For casual dining, try the Grand Café for all your meals at the hotel. It has a big breakfast buffet and a seafood buffet every Friday night.
After dinner, stroll over to the Café Gelato for coffee and ice cream. Revived, why not head into the hotel lobby to listen to live piano music by the fire? And from 9 pm onwards you can enter the Evolve nightclub to dance the night away. Evolve also has a light menu if you get the munchies later in the evening.
All in all, the ski experience at Mountain Top at the Geneva Grand is pretty special. Even more, you have all of Lake Geneva to explore.
Lake Geneva itself is a delight. You can view the lovely Victorian mansions along the lakefront, take a hike around the lake, visit the Yerkes Observatory, go skating, ice boating, take sleigh rides, and check out the entertainment at the Belfry Music Theatre or at the Lake Geneva Theatre Company. You can even sign up for a cooking class at Lake Geneva School of Cooking and sit down and dine with fellow students on the food you have prepared.
If you would rather stay in Lake Geneva than at the resort, you can try the Geneva Inn which is right on the lake. It serves an amazing free buffet breakfast and is casually elegant. If you are in a romantic mood, head to the exquisite Baker House with its opulent rooms and atmosphere. For sheer fun and fantasy, book into the Lazy Cloud Inn where rooms are decorated with fieldstone and almost feel like individual log cabins.
