Mt Mawson ski resort, Tasmania, Australia

Mt Mawson is situated within the Mount Field National Park in Tasmania. This ski resort is owned and operated by the Southern Tasmanian Ski Association.  The nearest Airport is Hobart International Airport which is about 1.5 hours away from the resort.

Accommodations may be made in the chalets, cottages and hotels that surround Mount Mawson or in bed and breakfast style cottages in the town of Magra, set in the beautiful Derwent valley.
The vertical drop of this mountain is 70 metres. There are 4 skiing trails, spread over 35 hectares of land, which are rated Beginners – 30%, Intermediate – 50% and Advanced – 20%.  Cross-country skiing is also offered on 10 km of pristine wilderness around the mountain. Three surface lifts help transport people up the hill to the slopes from where they can ski, snowboard or snowshoe easily.

Snowfall here is not very predictable. However, when snow is abundant, visitors can enjoy the skiing, moguls, carving, obstacles as well as the cross-country skiing facilities which runs through Mt Field west, Tarn Shelf and Rodway range in the Mount Field National park.



Après-ski activities include visiting the Mt Field National Park and enjoying the rainforest hike, wildlife, Russell Falls, Fern Forests, and Lake Dobson.
