Pamporovo ski resort, Bulgaria

Located in the beautiful Rhodope Mountains, the cradle of the mythical singer Orpheus, the Pamporovo Ski Resort is about 85 km from the city of Plovdiv. Visitors may arrive at this resort via the Plovdiv International Airport.

Accommodations are available at the resort as well as in the towns surrounding Plovdiv. The altitude of the resort is 1650 metres and the average annual temperature is 8.5˚C. The mild climate of the mountain is influenced by the Mediterranean.

There are over 17.5 km of alpine tracks for varying levels of skiers. There are also long distance running tracks that total 34 km in length. In addition, there are three cross-country runs in Pamporovo. The trails in Pamporovo Ski Resort are rated Beginners – 9%, Intermediate – 27%, Advanced – 37% and Expert – 27%. The longest run is 3800 metres in length.

Pamporovo Ski Resort has five chair lifts and 13 surface lifts for a total uphill capacity of 8500 persons per hour. There is a ski school with multilingual instructors which is considered to be the best in Europe. An equipment rental facility is also located on this mountain.

The sunny days here enable skiers to enjoy the snow on the sunny slopes while the warm Mediterranean winters prevent avalanches and snow storms and allows skiers to enjoy the ski area all season.
