Qanat Bakich Ski resort, Lebanon

The smallest ski resort in Lebanon, Qanat Bakich, is on the slopes of Jebel Sannine, 2,628 metres above sea level. The Karam family owns the land in which this ski resort is situated. They built this ski resort in 1967 and built the first ski lift there.  To get to this ski resort, international visitors can come via the Beirut Rafic Hariri International airport.

Accommodations in this ski area include Snowland hotel with reasonable accommodation and a small lift with teaching slope. Ski equipment is available for hire and on weekends, ski instructors are around to aid the beginners and children who come to this ski area.

Qanat Bakich is at an altitude of 1860 metres above sea level. Most skiers who come to this ski resort find it very peaceful and uncrowded unlike some of the newer, more developed ski resorts in the area. The operating hours are from 8 AM to 3:30 PM on weekdays. On weekends, the park closes at 4:00PM.

There are different levels of trails such as Baby trail, Beginners, Intermediate, etc. The baby trail is 185 metres long and has a vertical drop of 20 metres. The Beginners slope is 200 metres long and has a drop of 20 metres at an altitude of 1840 metres.

 There are 7 trails rated Beginner – 14%, Intermediate – 43% and Advanced – 43%. The longest run and the most difficult slope is 1300 metres long with a vertical drop of 220 metres at an altitude of 2000 metres above sea level.
