Ruka is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty just below the Arctic Circle. Its position close to the Russian border ensures skiing all winter. There are 20km of pistes to explore at altitudes between 201m-492m and 29 runs, 16 of which are floodlit. Ruka has two snowboard parks and over 220km of cross country skiing trails. Four chairlifts and 16 drag lifts ensure the pistes are accessible. For non skiers there is a wide choice of activities including Icelandic horse riding, snowmobiling, observing the Northern Lights and husky or reindeer safaris. A kindergarten and children’s sports area will keep young families amused.
