Sankt Jakob im Defereggental ski resort, Austria

The family friendly resort of Sankt Jakob im Defereggental located along the east Tyrolean province of Austria promises outdoor fun and recreation for every age group.  No matter what level of ability you are at, the resort will make you feel at ease among the backdrop of some of the finest scenery in Austria.  Sun covered slopes provide a nice ride and offer family friendly stops along the way. 

Accommodations

Lodging accommodations cater to the family and individual.  Three and four star hotels are scattered throughout the resort and a number of guesthouses are available for families to spend the holiday away from home. 

Tracks/Slopes

Lift facilities include four drag lifts, two chair lifts and one cable car.  There are a wide range of slopes available for the beginner to advanced skier.  Easy slopes consist of 17 km of flat and wide terrain that is perfect for introductory ski lessons or honing your skills.  There are 32 km of medium difficulty slopes and 3 km of advanced or difficult runs.  A large snowboard park is located at the resort and offers a wide range of excellent amenities for snowboarders as well as a relaxation area on the Brunnalm.

Other Activities

There are six toboggan runs located throughout the resort and extend a total of 15 km.  Toboggan gear can be rented from the onsite facility.  There are both 10 km of winter hiking trails and 10 km of high altitude hiking trails available for something a little different than downhill options.  Ice skating, curling, paragliding and sleigh rides are also available.
