The Republic of Serbia, located in Central/Southeastern Europe, is working hard at recuperating its fame as the popular skiing destination it used to be in the 70s and 80s, after many years of war and political turmoil. Serbia has various ski resorts, of which Kopaonik is the largest and the only one with real international appeal. Serbia, along with a few other countries in the same area, tries to attract international visitors to its slopes by offering cheap skiing holidays.

The Serbian slopes are mainly suited for beginner to intermediate level skiers, with little to offer the advanced skier. The long and cold winters do make for good snow coverage and the landscapes are nothing short of stunning. The most beautiful location for skiing has to be Tara National Park, with its dramatic scenery and the Tara Canyon. Après-ski is well-developed in Serbia, with most of the restaurants, bars, and places with live music located very close together. The food is a mixture of local Serbian and international cuisine and the prices will put a smile on your face every time you order a drink or a bite.
