Shiga Kogen Ski Resort, Japan

Shiga Kogen is a cosy ski resort nestled in the heart of the Joshinetsu National Park in Nagano Prefecture , Japan . Majestic scale, series of ski terrain, remarkable breathtaking views, and powder quality snow all intermingle together to make the magnificent Shiga Kogen. It is an ultimate place for keen skiers and snowboarders who are hunting for the best powder snow. Positioned elegantly in the terrains of Nagano Prefecture , Shiga Kogen is divided into two areas that are connected at Hasuike. The southern area directs to the top of 2305 m tall Mount Yokote and has ski runs and   hot springs   along the way to the brow . As a host of 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Giant Slalom and Paralympic events, no one can disagree to the fact that Shiga Kogen is a world class ski resort. This ski resort encompasses a massive area and offers a great diversity of natural terrain. It enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in Japan (December - May) and the snow quality is enormously great.

Shiga Kogen is a highly reachable and convenient ski destination. It is 60 km from Nagano city and 250 km from Tokyo 's busy city hub and 460 km from Osaka city. During the busy ski season a Shuttle Bus service is provided for transportation across the ski resorts and various ski fields and hotel areas.  

The Shiga Kogen Ski Shuttle Bus can be taken during ski lift opening times (08:30-16:30) for free by means of gaining a Shiga Kogen IC lift pass.

Comprising of 21 ski fields and about 70 lifts, gondolas, ropeways and tows, Shiga Kogen is considerably the largest ski resort in Japan . The long ski season runs from late November to early May with suitable conditions from late January to early March.  

Accommodation is offered by many hotels placed right through the area particularly around Hasuike. Shiga Kogen is very near to Yudanaka Onsen, Shibu Onsen and the   snow monkeys. Like Hotel Heights , Shiga Kogen is a resort base for skiing and outdoor activities all over the year.
