Located in the spectacular Okanagan Valley in the town of Vernon, Silver Star Mountain Ski resort is one of the favorite choices for skiers all over British Columbia. The easiest way to come to this high capacity ski site is through Kelowna International airport.
This resort is open from late November through mid-April. Day skiing usually starts at 8:30AM and ends at 3:30PM. Night skiing, however, starts at 3:30Pm and ends at 8:30PM and it is available only on Friday and Saturday.
Annual snowfall here is 700 cm (23 ft) and the terrain which encompasses an area of 3.065 acres has 115 Marked Downhill Trails which are divided as 20% for Beginners, 50% Intermediate, 20% Advanced and 10% Expert. The longest run is 8 km (5 miles)
The vertical drop on this site is 760 meters(2,500 ft). There are 12 lifts including Six Pack Express, two Detachable Squad, two fixed grip squad, 1 double chair, 1 T-bar, 2 magic carpets and 2 tube lifts. This enables an uphill capacity of 14,000 skiers/snowboarders per hour.
