Set at the base of the Tahoe area is this purpose built village resort. Squaw caters for skiing at the North end of Lake Tahoe, about an hour from the bigger Heavenly resort.
Although a lot smaller than its Californian counterparts, Squaw Valley has plenty to offer families. The car free village gives the resort and European feel and the annual snow fall is excellent here.
Four big Terrain Parks cater to the snowboarders and beginners are looked after with slow cruisy slopes. There is a good mix of black and blue runs as well.
