Steamboat Ski Resort, Steamboat, Colorado, USA

ski hotels

Situated high in the Colorado Rockies, Steamboat can be found at the base of one of North America’s largest ski mountains. The village at the base of the resort is undergoing demolitions and rebuilding over the next few years, but it is still open for business. Steamboat Springs is the nearest town, but it’s still best to stay on the slopes.

Steamboat has 6 peaks, 20 lifts servicing 164 trails covering 3,000 acres.

There are four terrain parks here catering for all levels, Mavericks being the largest and Beehive is designed with kids in mind.

There are just as many Black runs as Blue, so the experts can enjoy challenging terrains in the Glades. Steamboat is ideal for intermediates as well, with plenty of long cruisy runs. The beginner’s area at the base of the mountain has had a big revamp and provides all the needs for new and unsure skiers.

Cross Country is impressive here. Groomed tracks can be accessed by a free shuttle bus from the village; all up there are 160km of trails.

Good food choices are available on the mountain and at the base. Hotels, bars and nightclubs are also located at base village.

Steamboat Ski Resort has high standards when it comes to keeping their guests happy. There are 2,965 skiable acres with a vertical drop of 3,668 feet. The average annual snowfall is 335 inches and the resort can make snow for 15 percent of the terrain. The 25 lifts can move 33,619 people per hour.

There are 165 trails with varying difficulty levels. Beginners can enjoy 14 percent of the runs while intermediates can use 42 percent. The remaining 44 percent of trails is strictly for advanced and expert skiers and boarders. The terrain park will challenge every level freestyle enthusiast. A snow tubing area is also available at Steamboat Ski Resort.

Ski in and ski out lodging is available on the mountain. There are also a wide variety of restaurants onsite for your dining pleasure. The après ski crowd will enjoy the bars and lounges without having to leave the resort.
