Straja in the Carpathian Mountains is a popular ski resort in the shadow of the Retezat Mountain. With six pistes of varying ability there are opportunities for advanced skiers to attempt the Lupului run with a 510metres length.
Snowboarders might enjoy the Channel run, also a black slope.
Ski school instruction is available and equipment can be hired locally.
Some slopes are floodlit for night skiing. The resort has a number of guest houses and hotels. Alternative activities to skiing include visiting the Straja Hermitage, paint balling, and a local bear reserve.
