The Cedars Ski resort, north of Lebanon

ski hotels

Located to the north of Lebanon, The Cedars Ski resort is a popular destination for skiers from many parts of the world since 1920. This resort is at an altitude of 2000 metres above sea level and has a longer skiing season than other ski resorts in this area. The skiing season starts in November and last through April of each year. To reach this resort, visitors come via Tripoli International Airport or Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport and take a taxi or shuttle bus to reach the ski area. Accommodations are available in the surrounding towns such as Bazaoun and Bcharreh.

The vertical drop here is 550 metres. The operating hours are from 8 AM to 3:30 PM on weekdays and from 8 AM to 4:00PM on weekends and holidays.

There are five lifts including 2 chair lifts and 3 surface lifts. The longest run is 1100m metres at an altitude 2390 metres. Recently three new chair lifts were installed to replace the old T-bar lifts installed a long time ago.

The Cedars ski area offers snow-wire lifts on the beginner slope. The lifts are in a huge basin from where skiers can go to the very top of the mountain to practice cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding and skidoo trips.

The world-famous poet, novelist and spiritual artist Khalil Gibran was born in this area. The museum here exhibits his paintings, creations and other artefacts.
