Vail ski resort, Colorado, USA

Vail is considered by some to be North America’s premier ski resort. The ski area is huge and offers plenty of skiing for all levels, the resort village is large as well, but it has reputation for being expensive and swanky. The Vail mountain has three distinct ski areas, covering over 5,000 acres. Lift numbers at 32, with black runs dominating. Intermediate runs are ideal, long and cruisy with a few challenges.

The are four Terrain parks here with Fly Zone being recognised as one of the best in the US. It has over 40 features and hosts many snowboarding competitions. The beginner’s area is also good but gets very busy.

The main drawbacks for the Vail resort are, it can get very busy and at times queues are long, and it is pricier than other resorts in the area. The restaurants on the mountain also have a reputation for poor service, adequate food at high prices, so be prepared to pay up big for food.

There is plenty of off slope activities; Ice-skating, tobogganing, fishing, walking, day spas, dog sledding, horse riding and bungee trampolining.
