Situated close to Beirut city and offering many winter activities, this small ski area has been destroyed twice by Israel and resurrected as a private ski club recently. The slopes face the North and get very good quality of snow. From here, visitors can see a panoramic view of the Valley of Skulls.
To get to Zaarour, visitors arrive through the Beirut Rafic Hariri International airport. Accommodations are plenty here in the Beirut, capital of Lebanon. There are also hotels and chalets for rent near the ski area.
Cross-country skiing is also enjoyed here and over 4 km of slopes on the Sannine Mountain are designated for this sport. The operating hours are from 8 AM to 3:30 PM during weekdays and from 8:00AM to 4:00 PM on weekends and holidays. This ski area has a vertical drop of 350 metres.
There are 7 lifts in Zaarour ski area including 2 chair lifts and 3 surface lifts. The baby ski areas are about 200 metres with a 20 metre vertical drop. The longest lifts are 1250 metres in length with a 350 metre vertical at an altitude of 2000 metres. There are 3 ski trails at beginner’s levels.
Equipment may be rented at Mike’s Sport located at the slopes or Dagher Sport located in Mrouj Village nearby. Rental equipment includes skis as well as snowboards.
