Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains is one of Poland’s most popular holiday destinations. The ski resort has around 50 ski lifts with a variety of excellent skiing and snowboarding. Mount Kasprowy Wierch, 3 km from Zakopane offers the best terrain for snowboarding and skiing. Nearby Mount Nosal is a slalom run.
Other ski areas in Zakopane include Mount Gubalowa with night skiing and good ski and snowboarding runs, and Polana Szymoszkowa, a modern complex with excellent beginner slopes. Zakopane has several ski schools and ski rental facilities. Cross country skiing is available in Krokiew. Other activities include snowmobiling and sleigh ride parties.
